Old farmhouse stairs in Pickering Village that predate the wartime town
What you see: The stair in your older Pickering Village house is steep, worn in the middle of each tread and wobbly at the newel, but it is part of why you bought the place.
Why it happens here: Pickering Village was a separate village until it merged into the town in 1974, and its oldest houses are far older than the 1940s munitions-plant subdivisions around them.
How we fix it: We rebuild custom wood staircases in red or white oak to the old profile in our shop, or refinish and re-anchor the stair where the stringers are sound.

Our lead tech visits your Toronto or GTA property with glass swatches (12mm vs 15mm), wood grain boards and iron patina samples, then laser-measures rise, run and stringer angles.

Permit-Ready CAD Drawings and OBC Compliance
We draw every project to OBC Section 9.8 (residential) or Section 3.4 (commercial): 900-965mm handrail height, 100mm max baluster spacing, 42-inch guard on drops over 600mm. You approve every reveal before metal is cut. We never promise permit approval.

Design fee, CAD drawings, materials, fabrication and install are itemised separately in writing.

In-Shop Fabrication in Etobicoke
Under founder Michael Bennett's supervision our crew mills rough-sawn hardwood, TIG and MIG welds every metal joint and dry-fits full spans on shop jigs at our 6,000 sq ft Etobicoke facility.

Ajax grew out of the town built around the Defence Industries Limited munitions plant in the 1940s, and most of the central neighbourhoods are newer subdivisions with builder stairs ready for an upgrade. We recap or refinish the treads and add iron or glass.
Pickering Village is older. It was its own village until it merged into the town in 1974, and its farmhouse stairs usually need careful restoration or a rebuild to the original profile, milled in our Etobicoke shop.
